Okay! So I had my ultrasound at the hospital today. My mom watched the kids and my sister, Michelle, ended up being available for an hour so she met me there! Jared was working in Mt. Pleasant or he would have been there. Anyhow, everything went great. One of them had the hickups, and they were both little squirmy peanuts! The babies were the same weight (4 oz, so small!), very similiar measurements, and the heartbeat was the same (128). We wanted to wait until Christmas to find out the sexes so I had to look away when the technician took pics of the gender shots, I looked away when the Dr. was reviewing them, and they were stuffed safe in a little red envelope, waiting for Christmas. I thought the hard part was over.. that is, until I got home! I called Fran (Jareds mom) to tell her all about it. I didn't put it together that they could possibly be the same sex until she mentioned it. Then, I just had to know. All along, I had felt like one was a girl and one was a boy. Maybe just wishful thinking! Regardless, I tried to keep my mind busy with Christmas cards, cleaning the kitchen, putting my school stuff away, cuddling with the kids, etc.
Finally, when Jared got home at 5 I was bound and determined to open the envelope to see what we are having. So, I guess I really do suck at surprises afterall! But... we are excited that we are having two precious baby girls! Lydia doesn't really get it, she actually thinks she has babies in her belly as well. It is really funny. When we told Ethan he said, "Actually, I think it is two girls too, its okay to change my mind. So, I am really right." He originally thought 2 boys, then changed his mind to one boy and a girl. If you asked Lydia, she would say girl everytime. Ethan will be the big brother of his 3 little sisters. We are going to have sooo much fun! Jared and my mom still think by the next apt. one of them will surprise us and be a boy, but I am not so sure. I think technology is too good! I am quite excited to have 2 little princesses to add on to our little sassy dolly girl and our big helper feller boy. If I can figure out how to post some of the ultrasound pics I will in a few days! Have a Merry Christmas.
